Margaret F. (Boyle) McIntyre

Margaret McIntyre (nee Boyle) passed away on September 22, 2023 after a long illness.

Margaret, a/k/a Cookie, was born in New York City to the late Joseph P. and Grace H. (nee Wallace), the ninth of thirteen children. The family moved between NYC and Philadelphia but eventually settled in Philadelphia. Cookie grew up in Fishtown area and considered St. Michael’s Church her parish and had all five of her children baptized there.

Cookie was married to the late James P. Yancer, Sr. and together they shared five children, Michael (who sadly passed ten days after Mom), Lisa (Ronald Krenski), James P., Jr. (Christina), JoAnn (Joseph Gillespie), and Carol Ann. She was the proud MomMom of Robert, Kayleigh and Payton Kane, Kate, Joseph and Nolan Gillespie, Paige Yancer and the late Steven Donnelly. She was also surrogate MomMom to her nieces Erin and Loren Meyers and the late Megan Meyers.

While Cookie worked various jobs over the years, her favorite was as babysitter for many family and friends’ children. She never met a baby she didn’t fall in love with. She was also the family “hairstylist.” One niece fondly remembers her “crooked” bang look. She enjoyed the shore and occasionally going to the casinos for entertainment. Her favorite holiday was Christmas where she lost her mind decorating every room in the house, nothing was off limits. She believed more was better.

Cookie is sadly missed by her children, grandchildren and other family members but are comforted in knowing she is reunited with all her loved ones and friends who passed before her.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather and celebrate her life on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 10:00 a.m., followed by a prayer service at 11:00 a.m. at St. George Hall, 2700 E. Venango Street, Philadelphia, PA 19134.
