Mary T. Morris (nee Cain) passed away on September 1, 2025 at the age of 70. She was born in Philadelphia to the late Henry P. Cain and the late Mary Tritz Metzger (Joseph).
Mary was a lifelong resident of Fishtown and a devoted parishioner of St. Michael’s Church. She was a proud graduate of John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls’ High School, Class of 1974, and often said those years were among the best of her life.
Mary cherished time with her family, especially the special outings she shared with her daughter, Jill. She felt truly blessed to have spent so much quality time together this past summer.
A faithful fan of soap operas, Mary could always be found watching General Hospital—and everyone knew not to disturb her between 3:00 and 4:00 p.m. Her friendly spirit, lively personality, and sense of humor made her a joy to be around. Her family often joked that she was quite the “wordsmith,” known for her colorful verbiage. Mary will be deeply missed and her family takes comfort that she is being reunited in heaven with her loved ones, especially her beloved Henry.
Mary is the devoted mother of Jill Marie Morris (Robert Orange) and the late Henry J. Morris Jr. Loving Nanny Noo Noo to Henry J. Morris III (Johanna), William McCleery Jr., Addison McCleery, and G-Noo of Nora. Dear sister of Donna Metzger, Robert Metzger, and the late Patrick Cain (Dorothy), Victoria Dowling (late Thomas), John Cain, Catherine Metzger, and Joseph Metzger Jr. Cherished aunt to her many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved very much but there are just too many to name. Sadly missed by her furbaby Poe.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing and funeral Saturday September 13, 2025 beginning at 9am in St. Michael's Church 1445 N. Second Street Philadelphia, PA 19122, followed by her funeral mass at 11am. Interment in Palmer Cemetery will take place at a later date.
