It is with profound sadness that the family of MaryEllen Mullen announces her unexpected passing at home on January 4, 2025. She is the beloved life partner of the late James "Scott" Ray, Cherished daughter of the late Warren and Catherine (nee Leahy). Dear sister of Harry (late Eileen), Linda Lesher (Edward), Thomas (Jacqueline), Warren Jr. (late Rosemary), and the late Joe Long (late Kay), Rocky (late MaryAnn), Celeste McAdams (late Jimmy), Catherine "Sis" Adams (Jim), Carol Burke (late Michael), and Vincent "Moon" (Helen). Sadly missed by her many cherished nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
MaryEllen was a proud lifelong resident of Kensington who lived on the same street for her entire life. She was the baby of her large Irish Catholic family and grew up in a home filled with love and lots of laughs. Maryellen graduated from Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Grade School and Nativity Business School. A true Philly girl, she loved all of her Philadelphia sports teams, especially the Phillies and Eagles, and loved her time spent at the Jersey Shore. She looked forward to Family Weekend every year. MaryEllen had an open door for all of her family at any time and her home was always the gathering place, whether it was for family parties, holidays, or sleepovers with the youngest children in the Mullen family. She was always a phone call away to listen to anything anyone needed, as long as they did not interrupt her soap operas. Her family is devastated by her passing but they take comfort that she is being reunited in heaven with her parents, siblings, and especially her beloved Scott.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing and funeral Saturday January 11, 2025 beginning at 9-10:45am in St. Joan of Arc Church 3546 Frankford Ave. Philadelphia, PA 19134. Funeral Mass 11am. Interment Westminster Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to The Mission of St. Joan of Arc at the above named address.
