Maureen Schilling (McClain), age 74, was born in Philadelphia, PA on February 12, 1949. She grew up in Fishtown, attended Holy Name Catholic School, and went on to St.Anne’s Business School. After graduating, Maureen worked for Bayox Cigars, after that, Jeweler's Row, then the Delaware Ribbon Company, finally spending the next 40 years doing what she loved most bartending. Maureen bartended at Bentley’s Bar in Kensington, where she met many friends and even became famous in the Rocky Balboa movie.
After retiring in 2016, some of her favorite pastimes were reading the daily news, doing the crosswords, decorating for holidays, going down the shore, and enjoying the backyard pool with her grandchildren.
Maureen was preceded in death by her father, Harold. J. McClain, mother, Rose Marie McClain (Wray), brother, Harold (Happy) McClain, and her son, Anthony. J. Schilling III. Maureen leaves behind her daughter, Maureen Snowden (Schilling), son-in-law, Ameen Snowden Sr., five grandchildren, the joys of her life, Samaiyah, Ziraya, Aleeyah, Ameen Jr. (Buddy), and Sydia, her brother, Joseph McClain (Barbara), a host of nieces and nephews, her cat (Baby), and many other family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Service of Christian Burial on Friday June 23, 2023, at 11 AM, in the McELVARR FUNERAL HOME, 1415-17 East Susquehanna Avenue, Fishtown, where friends may gather after 10 AM.
