Michael J. Hart

Michael J.Hart, age 70 passed away peacefully on January 15 at his home surrounded by his children, after a courageous 2 year battle with lung cancer. He is the beloved Husband to the late Judy Hart (nee Spross) loving Father of  Thomas Groover ( Nicole) Marie Lopez (Radames) JudyAnn Burns (Justin) Lisa Hart (Johnny) William Groover (Jeanine) Rebecca Hart. Loving Poppy to 24 Grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Sadly missed by his sisters Sally Carroll( late Tim) Cathy Foley (Tim) Elizabeth Tirabasso (late Tim) late brothers James Hart (Diane) and John Hart (Peg). Beloved son of the late William and Elizabeth Gilmore. Forever loved and remembered by his many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles,  cousins and an entire community of friends and neighbors. As well as his 4 legged bestie L.J.

Mike was a loving husband and devoted father. He drove over the road and delivered newspapers for the Philadelphia Inquirer for nearly 30 years until he retired. He graduated from North Catholic High School in 1968. From 1969 through February 1971, he served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army, an 11B40 Team Leader, that during healthier times would gather with other veterans and play cards at the club. He was awarded a National Defense Service Medal as well as awarded honors for Sharpshooter and an M-14 Expert. An avid sports fan and the New York Giants biggest supporter, you could see the excitement on his face whenever they won a game and especially a win against the Philadelphia Eagles! He loved to watch tv shows like The Big Bang Theory and FRIENDS. He was an amazing dad, grandfather, brother, and uncle and would do anything for anyone of his family members. We would like to thank all the people who have had a hand in taking care of him over these last few years, from the nurses and doctors at the VA Medical Center to the personal caretakers from Compassus. Mo, he loved you like one of his own sisters. Mike will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
 Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation and funeral Monday January 25, 2021 beginning at 9am in St. Anne Church (lower) 2328 East Lehigh Ave. Philadelphia PA 19125. Funeral Mass 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to the Corporal Michael J. Crescenz VA Medical Center 3900 Woodland Ave. Philadelphia 19104
