Passed away on January 17,2024 at the age of 59. He was the beloved husband of Michele (nee Rotan). He was the beloved son of the late John and Margaret Klimas Martin. Brother of the late Margaret Martin, Helen Farrell (Thomas) and John Martin. Loving cat 'Dad" to Elizabeth Marie Martin.
Beloved uncle of Kristina Purcell (Michael), late Daniel Ragen, Jessica Hunt, David Rotan III, Anthony Rotan Marroquin (Jesus), Joseph Rotan (Melissa). He will be sadly missed by many great nieces, great nephews, and dear friends.
Michael was born and raised in Fishtown. Michael attended North Catholic High School. His favorite things to do on his downtime were fishing, sitting in his backyard oasis, and watching his Philly sports team. You could always see him at 3pm watching his general hospital which his mother-in-law got him hooked on during his caretaking days. His most favorite past time was camping with his wonderful wife Michele. He loved to sit at the fire having a beer and his door was always opened for his family and friends.
He was well known for his famous vegetable beef soup, meatballs, and chicken parmesan. He was like “St. Francis of the neighborhood”. He would feed everyone including any stray cat that walked in the yard. He would often be seen patrolling his block with his broom, dustpan and leaf blower in hand cleaning up. You could bet your bottom dollar that on game day he matched from head to toe supporting his Philly teams.
To honor Michael’s love of his Philly sports teams, please dress casually and wear your Philly Sports attire.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing and funeral on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, beginning at 9:45 AM, in Holy Name of Jesus Church, Fishtown, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM. Mike will be laid to rest in Palmer Cemetery at a later date. The family is respectfully requesting, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions for the maintenance of Palmer Cemetery.
