Nancy B. Mayer (nee Hart) passed away peacefully at home on December 21, 2025 at the age of 78.
Nancy was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and raised in Olde Kensington South. She attended St. Michael’s School and, from a young age, helped care for and raise her younger siblings—something that spoke to her strong sense of family and responsibility.
Nancy was a longtime bartender at the Fishtown Tavern, where she became a familiar and beloved face to many. Known for her sass, feisty spirit, and famously “colorful language,” Nancy never hesitated to say exactly what was on her mind.
She enjoyed doing puzzles and relaxing with her favorite British television shows. Above all, Nancy cherished time spent with her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren were truly her pride and joy. Nancy loved living at Neumann Senior Housing, where she was able to maintain her independence while continuing to enjoy life on her own terms. Everyone knew and loved Mom-Mom Nance.
Nancy is the devoted mother of Robert Mayer (Denise), Trisha Phipps (Bob), and Carol Buggey (Christopher). Loving Mom-Mom of Marykate, Ryan, Richard, Brandon, Christopher, Dylan, Shaylyn, Bobbie, and Adam. Cherished Mom-Mom Nance of Lila Rose and Mia Harper. Dear sister of Agnes Hart, Rosemary Trautz, Theresa Hart, Catherine Hart, Francis Hart, Patrick Hart, Timothy Hart, and the late Margaret Hart, Joseph Hart, Michael Hart, and Brian "BJ" Hart. Sadly missed by her best friend Carole O'Connor and her many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to her graveside service Friday January 9, 2026 at 11am in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery 3301 West Cheltenham Ave. Philadelphia PA 19150. Please arrive 15 minutes prior and gather at the cemetery entrance to form the procession to the grave. The family invites all those attending to join them after the service for a luncheon at the Cottage Green 9001 Ashton Rd. Philadelphia, PA 19136.
