Patrick J. Foster passed away peacefully at home on April 18, 2026, at the age of 89. He was born on July 27, 1936 to the late Daniel and Catherine (nee Dwyer) Foster and was raised in the Fairmount section of the city.
Patrick was a longtime resident of Fishtown and a devoted parishioner of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, where his faith remained an important part of his life. He dedicated 28 years of service as a firefighter with the Philadelphia Fire Department, serving his community with courage and commitment until his retirement. Proud of his Irish heritage, Patrick took great pride in his roots and the traditions he carried forward. Patrick raised his family in the same home for many years, creating a place filled with love, stability, and lasting memories. Above all, he loved his family deeply and was known for always showing up—for every moment, big or small, and for everyone who needed him.
Patrick is the beloved husband of over 50 years to the late Nancy (nee Chambers) Foster. Devoted father to Michael Foster (Rhona), the late Patrick Foster (late Maryanne), the late Sheila Conway (John), and Kevin Foster (Kathleen). Loving grandfather of John Conway (Michele), Steven Foster, the late Daniel Conway (Chrystyna), Patricia Lynn Maiden (late Sean), Christopher Conway (Tessa), Kevin Foster (Britnee), Jennifer Foster, Philip Foster (Rachael), Ryan Foster (Jenna), and Matthew Foster (Hailee). Adoring great grandfather to Andrew Conway (Lexe), Michael Conway (Destiny), the late James Conway, Natalie Conway, Shaun Conway, Nicholas Conway, Julia Conway, Vincent Foster, Adrian Foster, Callan Conway, Kevin Foster, Quinn Conway, Lincoln Foster, Lydia Foster, Rhys Conway, and Henry Foster. Dear brother of the late Francis "Mopsy" Foster (late Marie), the late Mary "Sister" Foster, the late Daniel Foster (late Dorothy Mae), the late Edward Foster (late Lillian), and the late Catherine Grassi (late Tony). Sadly missed by his nieces and nephews.
