Paul J. Omelchuk Jr. passed away unexpectedly at home on December 15, 2025 at the age of 62. He was born in Philadelphia to the late Paul J. Sr. and Elsie (nee Raskaskaus).
Paul was a lifelong resident of Kensington and Fishtown, known affectionately as the “Mayor of Thompson Street” for always looking out for his neighbors. He was a dedicated roofer and long time member of Local 30 Roofer's Union.
Paul was a tell-it-like-it-is kind of person, known for his tough love, sharp wit, and no-nonsense approach. He marched to the beat of his own drum, something made clear by him being a New York Giants fan in a family full of Eagles fans. Paul enjoyed fishing and was a proud Mummer with the Oregon Club. More than anything, Paul loved his family and especially cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren.
Paul is the beloved husband of the late Theresa (nee Douglas). Devoted father of Theresa, PJ (Karen), Jennifer, Matthew Horan (Kimberly), and John (Christina). Loving Pop to Mackenzie, Christopher, Hayley, Kayla, Montez, Oliver, Leilani, John John, Braelyn, and great grandfather of Nevaeh, Zayden, Christopher, Melani, and Cody. Dear brother of Frank Cunliffe (Cathy), Sissy Colomy (Oliver), and the late Michael Omelchuk and Sam Cunliffe. Sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing and funeral Monday December 22, 2025 beginning at 7pm in the McElvarr Funeral Home 1415-17 East Susquehanna Ave. Philadelphia, PA 19125 (Fishtown), followed by his funeral service at 8:15pm
