Ginny was born in Philadelphia to the late Agustus and Agnes McCann Hatgimisios. She passed away Friday in Thomas Jefferson University Hospital after a valiant battle with heart disease.
This appeared in a Fishtown Action posting. " Ginny was small in stature but huge in heart. She was involved in the beginning years of Fishtown Neighbors Association and a founding member of Fishtown Action. She was also on the board and served as President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Elm Tree Post 88, American Legion. Ginny loved Fishtown and her Fishtown kids. She helped organize Easter Egg Hunts, Halloween Parties, Ice Cream Sundae Parties and Christmas Parties. She loved serving pizza and snacks at the Great Fishtown Spelling Bee and March Academic Madness. She never said no- she always asked " What do you want me to do ?". She loved her family and her neighborhood tremendously. We were lucky to have Ginny. She made us laugh, she fought for us, she worked along side of us and never gave up. But most importantly she was a tremendous friend. Rest in peace dear Ginny and thank you for all you did for us, the Veterans and our children. We love you " Ginny also worked at Holy Name School for many years and most recently at the daycare at York and Gaul Sts.
