Rev. James G. Weeden entered into the presence of the Lord on January 11, 2022, at the age of 92. He is the beloved husband of Ethel (nee Faye). Devoted father of Ruth Ann Shay (Don), James A. Weeden (Georgiann), and Dan D. Weeden (Lily). Dear brother of Anna Webber (Art), Bertha Mench (late Dick), Marie Sanislo (late George), and George W. Weeden. Loving grandfather of Ashley, Megan, Jerry, Valerie, Jasmine, Jessica, Erick, Audrey, Benjamin, and great grandfather of Caleb, Kevin, Jerry, Connor, Madison, and Chloe. Sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews.
James was born in Philadelphia to the late James and Anna (nee McAfee) Weeden. He attended Jones Junior High School and Northeast High School for three years before entering the Navy. He proudly served his country for four years and during this time he earned his high school diploma and obtained the rank of Seaman 1st class. Afterwards, he attended Reformed Episcopal Seminary, Eastern Baptist Seminary, Temple University, and Philadelphia College of Bible Evening School. James started Church of the Living Word on January 3, 1960 with 5 members. He pastored the same church for 57 years and loved preaching.
James loved God, his family, and his country. Fishing, the Eagles, Scrabble, and crossword puzzles were among his favorite hobbies. His three children and many grandchildren and great grandchildren brought much joy to his life. He was a faithful man who will be missed beyond words.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation and funeral Wednesday January 19, 2022 beginning at 10am in Trinity Community Church 1200 Easton Rd. Abington, PA 19001. Funeral service 11am.
