Richard Homan Obituary

Richard Homan, affectionately known as "Diego Richie" passed away peacefully at home on June 25, 2025, after a courageous battle with Mesothelioma. His loving family was by his side. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Richard’s greatest joy in life came from the time he spent with his family—especially his cherished great-grandchildren, for whom he was a daily presence and caregiver.

Richard proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era, stationed in Okinawa. He was honorably discharged and received the National Defense Service Medal and Sharpshooter Badge for his dedicated service.

Following his military career, Richie worked for many years as a printer. A social and spirited man, he was well-known for his boisterous laugh and magnetic personality. Whether tending bar, catching up with friends at Perri’s or the Chug-a-Mug taverns, or casting a line on fishing trips down the shore, Richie embraced life with energy and heart.

Fiercely loyal and protective, especially of his family, Richie lived with deep devotion and love. He will be remembered not only for his vibrant presence, but for the quiet strength and unwavering care he gave to those closest to him.

Richie's legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched, the stories he shared, and the love he so freely gave.

He is the devoted husband of Dolores (nee Albert). Devoted father of Christine Camiolo (Joseph), Michelle Homan, Donald Homan, and Michael Homan (Bill). Loving Pop of Tiffany Philyaw (Justin), Cori Leader (John), Kaley Leader (Jamen), Vincent Leader (Emily), Richard Leader (Delaney), Mackenzie Leader (Evan), Averyana Camiolo, Lauren Homan (Logan), Lori Shorten, and Donald Homan. Adoring great grandfather of Rosalie, Teagan, Mila, Aiden, Olivia, and Charlotte. Dear brother of Cathy Callahan (DJ), Maria Fragapane (Tony), and the late Frank Homan (late Betty), Joseph Homan (late Barbara) and Daniel Devlin (Karen). Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing and funeral Wednesday July 2, 2025 beginning at 8:30am in St. Anne Church (lower) 2328 East Lehigh Avenue Philadelphia, PA 19125, followed by his funeral mass at 10:30am. Richard will be laid to rest with military honors on July 9, 2025 promptly at 10:30am in Washington Crossing National Cemetery 830 highland Rd. Newtown, PA 18940.
