Robert A. Carter, 80, from Havertown, PA, passed away on December 15, 2024.
Bob or Bobby, as he was known, is survived by his wife, Shelley (nee Leshner), daughter, Lisa Jesse (Justin); son, Michael (Jennifer), daughter Susan, sister Ginger Hoar, grandchildren Bethany, Dylan, and Joshua Jesse, Brynlee Carter, the late JordanRenee, Justin Rogers and many nieces and nephews.
Bob served in the Army from 1968-1970. He was in the 101st Airborne Division and then the 82nd Airborne Division. Truth is…he never was airborne. In fact, he was deployed to Vietnam for one year, where he drove an ammunition truck for part of his tour. Bob was everyone’s “TV man” for many years before moving on to audiovisual technician, where he traveled the country setting up and running equipment for meetings for big corporate events, mostly pharmaceutical. He enjoyed being “on the road” and seeing so much of the country.
His hobbies were fishing and golfing. He looked forward to opening day trout season every year. Cold and rain did not keep him away. Golf came later, but he was just as passionate about that sport. When he was not working on weekends, he was usually on the golf course. In his more senior years, he started coin collecting, buying and selling on eBay, which kept him engaged when his health began to decline, and he was unable to be so physical.
Services are private. Anyone wishing to donate in his memory, in lieu of flowers, please consider one of his two favorite charities. Cystic Fibrosis Foundation/We Will Rock CF; or Wounded Warriors.
