Robert “Duke” J. Gerold

Robert J. Gerold "Duke" passed away on October 28, 2021 at the age of 81. He is the beloved husband of Marie "Moe"(nee Gaul). Devoted father of Teresa Ruisch, Brian Gerold, Christina Lucia, Marie McCrea (Edward), and the late Robert J. "Robbie" Gerold (Doreen). Loving Pop to Jamie Deeley (Brad), Ryan Gerold (Lauren), Gavin Gerold, Nolan Gerold, Owen Gerold, Gina Caterino (Tim Schemel), John Ruisch, Madison Ruisch, Raymond Lucia, John Downing (Christine), Marisa McCrea, Thomas McCrea, and great Pop to Bradley, Reese. Ryen, Brennan, Colin, Ella, Michael, Michael, Rachel, and Matt. Dear brother of the late Lorraine Zemartis. Sadly missed by his furbaby Sophie.

Duke was born in Bristol Twp. to the late Robert J. Sr. and Florence (nee McDermott) Gerold. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was a Teamster, having worked as a Brinks security guard. In his downtime he loved fishing and was an avid Philadelphia and Notre Dame sports fan. Duke was always the life of the party and it was not truly a party until he showed up. You could always find him on the dance floor with his family or joking around and laughing until he cried.  With Duke, there was never a dull moment.

Duke will be remembered most for his humble, calming presence and for being a source of quiet strength. He was sweet and generous and never had a bad word to say about anyone. Like his Robbie, he had a way of making people feel special. He was an amazing husband and father and was loved by all those who knew him. Duke will be forever missed by his family but they take comfort that he is reunited in heaven with his son Robbie.  Love never says Goodbye...

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing and funeral Thursday November 4, 2021 beginning at 9am in St. Anne Church (lower) 2328 East Lehigh Ave. Philadelphia PA 19125. Funeral Mass 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to the Disabled American Veterans.
