Robert M. "Bob" Edinger

Bob was born in Philadelphia to the late Albert and Florence Wachowska Edinger.  He passed away at Fox Chase Cancer Center after a valiant fight with cancer.  

Beloved husband of Sandy (nee Rizzo).  Father of Ruth anne Baker (Steven), Linda Ruppert  (Thomas) Brian (Kirsten), Kimberly DiJoseph (Robert), Christine Gersbach (Armand).  Dear brother of Albert (Judy), Betty MacLean (Jack)  and the late Maryann Camm ( the late Ray ), William Edinger and  Kathy Dziedowiec ( Tom ).  

A devoted grandfather , he’ll be sadly missed by 12 grandchildren – Lee, Nicholas, Melissa, Stephanie, Anastasia, Nina, Alex, Samuel, Veronica, Lillianna, Charlotte & Armand (A.J.) and 9 great grandchildren, who are scattered from Pennsylvania, Virginia, Florida, Alaska to Nuremberg, Germany. 

Bob was an avid walker.  His favorite thing was walking across the Benj. Franklin Bridge from 6th & Arch St.  during his lunch breaks from I.R.S.,  where he worked for 32+ years.   After retiring he continued to walk around Fishtown, where everybody and every dog in the neighborhood knew him and loved him.   

Bob was a proud United States Marine Corps Veteran.  Although he served only one hitch, he never stopped saying and living ‘ONCE A MARINE-ALWAYS A MARINE’.  Therefore, we are requesting that, in lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s memory be made to the UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS- TOYS FOR TOTS CAMPAIGN.   

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing and funeral on Monday, August 1, 2022 beginning at 10 AM in Holy Name of Jesus Church, Fishtown, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 Noon, followed by Military Honors. Interment will be at a later date.
