Rose passed on July 11th, 2021 having lived 97 full years. She died peacefully in her home surrounded by family and friends. Rose was the heart and soul of old Port Richmond. Her late husband John worked at the Jack Frost Sugar House until he died in 1973. A child of the great depression, Rose was a hard worker all her life. She has two adopted sons, Mark and Joe, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she loved very much. Rose had a special place in her heart for orphans and worked with orphanages all over Philadelphia. She kept an open heart and mind to all races, colors, and creeds. Humble in spirit and great in generosity. She was a devout lover of animals and had lots of pets. Rose was a lifelong parishioner of St. Anne’s and had a deep faith that could move mountains. She will be truly missed by all who loved her.
Rose was the beloved wife of the late John Edward Borkowski. Devoted mother to Mark Borkowski and Joseph Matkovic (late Theresa). Loving grandmother of Nina Moran (Sean), Joseph Matkovic, Michael Matkovic (Dana), Jennifer Kairis (Dennis) and great grandmother of Gabriel, Colton, Nico, Matthew, Sean, Michael, Amanda, Jill, and Matthew. Predeceased by her parents Giuseppe and Giovanna (nee Duimovich) Marchian, her brother Joseph Marchian, and her sister Mary Marchian. Sadly missed by Lynda Enright who was like a daughter to Rose.
Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation and funeral Friday July 16, 2021 beginning at 9:30am in St. Anne Church (upper) 2328 East Lehigh Ave. Philadelphia PA 19125. Funeral Mass 10:30am. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
