Sarahjane " Sally " (Foley) Hurst

Sally was born in Philadelphia to the late Edward and Mary Rose McBride Foley.  She passed away in Oakwood Nursing Home. Sally attended Holy Name of Jesus Elementary School and went on to graduate from Roxborough High School.  

The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Sarahjane (Sally). She enjoyed her hot cup of tea and reading her newspapers. Until her dying day she missed her Bulletin. Sarahjane had the gift of the Irish wit which she passed on to her children and to her grandchildren. In true Sarahjane fashion she told all of her children numerous times to make sure her obituary includes she was Roman Catholic and a Democrat. Not sure in what order. Her greatest joy were her children and grandchildren. Her love for then was unwavering. A few of her favorite things were crocheting, she was an avid storyteller and playing bingo at St. Anne's. Her trade mark was her red curly hair and bright blue eyes.  For a time she resided at the Penn Home. 
Her children are comforted in knowing she is with her beloved mother, Marie, her daughter, Diane Marie, and her granddaughter Jessica Marie.

She is the wife of Frank. Beloved mother of  Gerald F. Hurst ( Linda ), Jennifer Marie Cooper ( William ), the late Diane Marie Hess, Colleen Marie Kessler, Allison Marie Hurst and Sarahjane Marie Metzger ( Derek ). Dear sister of Marie Neilson, Kathleen Campbell , Roseanne Gibson and the late Edward and Raymond Foley.  Cherished Nan Nan to Stephanie, William, The late Jessica, Madison, Benjamin, Colin, Braden, Michael, Caleb, Edith,Sarah and Robert. Sadly missed by her 11 great grandchildren and her many nieces and nephews..  

Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass on Friday, March 5, 2021 at 12:30 PM in Holy Name of Jesus Church, Fishtown, where friends may call after 11:30 AM.  Further arrangements will be private. For those desiring the family is respectfully requesting memorial contributions to Holy Name Church at the address below. :
