Stephen L. Flite went home to be with the Lord on June 12, 2026, at the age of 70. He passed peacefully at home surrounded by the love of his family. He was born in Philadelphia to the late Louis and Alice (nee Simpson) Flite and was a lifelong resident of Philadelphia.
Stephen lived his life in joyful service to the Lord. His deep faith guided him every day and shaped a loving home for his family. He was the most unselfish man, always putting others first and giving more than he had without a word of complaint.
His door stayed open to everyone, always lending a helping hand to anyone in need. Stephen poured his heart into the Philly community by serving the homeless and those struggling with addiction. He touched countless lives with quiet, lasting kindness.
His children and grandchildren adored him. His playful spirit lit up their faces, and he cherished every moment spent with them. With his beloved wife Kathy, he loved taking long, aimless drives just the two of them, enjoying the road and each other’s company. Stephen also found simple pleasure cheering on his favorite Philly teams.
Above all, Stephen will be remembered for his generous heart, steadfast faith, and the way he simply loved everyone around him. He was a blessing to all who knew him.
Stephen is the beloved husband of Kathleen (nee Kirwin). Devoted father of Michelle Brigham, Kimberly Flite, Stephen Flite, Jennifer Thompson, David Kirwin, James Flite, Katie Smith, and Luke Flite. Dear brother of Charles Flite and the late Robert Flite, William Flite, and Lois Ulakowski. He will be missed by his many grandchildren, all of whom he loved very much.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing and funeral Friday June 19, 2026 beginning at 9:30am in Bethel Baptist Church 2080 Castor Avenue Philadelphia, PA 19134, followed by his funeral service at 11am.
