Stephen D. Havel, 60, went home to be with the Lord on September 17, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him.
Stephen, who liked to be called Steve, was born on November 24,1961 to Leo W. and Dorothy A. Havel. He was raised in the Kensington section of Philadelphia, attended Horatio B. Hackett Elementary, Penn Treaty Jr. High and graduated from Jules E. Mastbaum High School June 1979. He was a member of Saint Michael's Lutheran Church on Cumberland St., confirmation class of 1976.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Dorothy, and his brother, Wayne B. Havel. He is survived by his loving partner, Kelley and stepdaughter Kaley Uyeda, sister Dorothy (Ronald) Buchter, brother Leo W. Havel Jr. (Kathleen), nieces Kristen Havel and Victoria Buchter and nephew Jeffrey Havel, Uncle George and Aunt Alice Derr and many cousins.
Steve loved fishing, traveling, and especially loved camping. He enjoyed sharing his favorite camping spots and a few stories with anyone planning a trip. He loved sports, had a strong love for his family, had a great sense of humor and a laugh was unforgettable.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Thursday September 22, 2022 10 AM to 11 AM. in the HUBERT M. McBRIDE FUNERAL HOME, 2357 East Cumberland Street. Interment will be private for the immediate family. Steve will be laid to rest with his beloved parents and brother. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support during this time.
