Thomas F. Lowry Jr. age 82 passed away peacefully at home on October 4, 2019 with his loving family by his side. He is the beloved husband of Ruth Anne (née Cram). Devoted father of Thomas III, Shawn, Kelly Taylor (late Billy), Colleen Cartagena (Jesse), Jamie Clark (Doug), Stacie Addley (Tom), Brian (Carmen), and Tim (Kim). Loving grandfather to his 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Dear brother of Cassie, Franny (Pat), Vincent, Bobby, David, and Paddy.
Thomas was born on March 2, 1937 to Thomas and Mary and was raised in a large Irish Catholic family. He attended Visitation BVM school and Church with his ten brothers and sisters. It was during his childhood that he was introduced to Boxing, the sport which he and some of brothers loved. This continued throughout his life and he is featured in the Boxing Hall of Fame. At 17, Thomas entered the United Stated Army and served his country proudly, attaining the rank of Sergeant. After he was discharged from the Army he worked as a truck driver while raising his own family with his wife in Kensington in St. Anne Parish. Thomas was a lover of cowboy and war movies and was an expert on them. His greatest love was his family and he devoted his life to them. His family will miss him painfully but take comfort in knowing that he will be reunited with his parents, his brothers and sister, and 2 of his grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather and celebrate his life Wednesday October 9, 2019 from 8:15-9:15 in St. Anne upper church. His funeral mass will begin promptly at 9:30am. There will then be a procession to Washington Crossing National Cemetery Newtown PA where Thomas will receive military honors and committal services. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to the Disabled Veterans of America, a charity that he was passionate about.
