Obituary
Thomas H. O'Malley passed away unexpectedly at home on November 20, 2022, at the age of 71. He is the beloved husband of 47 years to Maryann (nee Gapsis). Devoted father of Maryanne O'Malley (late John Adamski), Thomas O'Malley III (Kelly), Joseph O'Malley (Kate Shulman), and Karen Omelchuk (PJ). Loving Grandpop to Hayley, Mya-Jade, Kaden, and Chase. Dear brother of the late Michael O'Malley.
Thomas was born in Philadelphia to the late Thomas H. Sr. and Catherine (nee Bonner) O' Malley. He remained in Philadelphia throughout his life, settling in the Port Richmond neighborhood to raise his own children. He worked for many years as an accountant and was very good at his job. In his free time, he enjoyed collecting Lionel trains and various types of fish. Tom was also an avid Philadelphia sports fan.
Thomas, who was known as "Mr. Tom", was a fixture in Port Richmond, both as a parishioner of Nativity BVM parish and also a longtime coach for the Port Richmond Tigers. He was devoted to teaching the children how to play ball and coached many neighborhood kids over the years. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his family.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing and funeral Monday November 28, 2022 beginning at 9am in Nativity BVM Church 2535 East Allegheny Ave. Philadelphia, PA 19134. Funeral mass 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
