Thomas Watson Obituary

Thomas E. Watson passed away unexpectedly on September 16, 2025. He was born in Philadelphia to the late William and Ruth (nee Staab).

Tom is the beloved husband of the late Joan (nee Leiva). Loving stepfather of Anthony Bilger (Lisa) and the late Francis Leiva. Dear brother of Richard (Theresa DeOrio), Robert (Margaret), Susan Winczuk (late Harry), Ruth, Patricia (Frank Bartholomew), and the late William Jr., Joseph, Jerry  “Doc”, and David. Sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews.

Tom was a proud United States Army veteran who carried the values of service and dedication throughout his life. Following his time in the military, he worked as a truck driver, where he was known as an extremely hard worker and a dependable provider.

In his free time, Tom enjoyed the simple pleasures of life—whether it was playing the lottery, visiting the casino or racetrack, or cheering on his beloved Philadelphia sports teams. He was a loyal fan through every season and every game.

What brought Tom the greatest joy, however, was spending time with his late wife. Together, they cherished visiting fish hatcheries, walking along the Wildwood boardwalk, and enjoying the everyday moments of life side by side. His family finds comfort in knowing that Tom is now reunited with her in heaven, where they can continue their journey together.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing and funeral Tuesday September 30, 2025 beginning at 11am in the Hubert M. McBride Funeral Home 2357 East Cumberland Street Philadelphia, PA 19125, followed by his funeral service at 12:30pm. Interment Washington Crossing National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to the Disabled American Veterans.
