Thomas "Tim" J. Cunningham Sr.

Thomas J. Cunningham Sr. “Tim”, age 88, passed away on January 2, 2024.  Loving Husband of 66 years to Marie A. Cunningham (nee Dvornicich).  Devoted father of 4 children, Thomas J. Cunningham, Jr and his wife Peggy of Earleville, MD, Gregory J. Cunningham and his wife Eileen, of Newtown PA, Marie A. Kromplewski and her husband Mark of Mt. Laurel NJ, Margaret M. Gabell and her husband Michael of Collegeville PA.  Pop to 12 beloved Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren.  The last of his 8 siblings and survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.  Pre-deceased in death by his parents, siblings and grandson, Thomas John Cunningham III (John).

Tim was born, raised, and lived in Philadelphia his entire life. He was a hard working, blue collar Philadelphian who loved his Phillies and Eagles. Pop was a man of faith and a lifelong member of St. Anne’s Parish.  His working career ranged from delivering newspapers to working his way up to become President of International Paperworkers Union Local 375 in Philadelphia, PA.  While his formal education ended early, he had street smarts, was not afraid of hard work, had exceptional people skills and he kept up with current events by reading the paper daily.

Tim’s perfect day consisted of sipping a hot cup of coffee under his big tree at his home in Villas, NJ, and taking a short drive to the Ferry Park.  Then a nap in the afternoon followed by manning the grill for a barbecue with the kids and grandkids, while sipping a cold beer.  That perfect day ended at the Villas Fishing club, where he was a lifetime member, enjoying a few Manhattans, or beers, listening to music and having good conversation with family and friends. All the while, a smile upon his face.

Visitation with family will be from 9:00am-10:15am followed by a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:30 am on Monday January 8, 2024. The visitation and Mass will be held at St. Anne’s Catholic Church 2328 E. Lehigh Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19125. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to St. Anne Church 2328 East Lehigh Ave. Philadelphia, PA 19125. Interment Our Lady of Grace Cemetery.
