Thomas “Wheels” R. McCandless III

Thomas R. McCandless III "Wheels" passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025 at the age of 74. He was born on December 21, 1950 to the late Thomas R. Jr. and Dolores (nee Fisher). He was a lifelong resident of the Kensington and Fishtown sections of Philadelphia. Thomas was a car enthusiast that loved all things cars, especially his 1955 Chevy Bel Air and his 1980 Corvette and this won him his nickname "Wheels".

Thomas is the beloved husband of the late Marion "Terry". Devoted father of Jacqueline Hunt (Pasquale Lapetina), Thomas (Jill Maguire), the late Helen, and stepfather to William, Anthony, and Francina. Loving Pop to Billy, Kristen, Tejay, Jacqueline, Tommy, the late Alyssa, and great grandfather of Savannah, Gianna, Karlee, Robert, Gizelle, Avianna, and Jaxson. Dear brother of Helen Howell (late Bob), Donna Tees (Joe), Charles, Michael (late Sandra), Debbie Rue (Bob), Kathy Heary (late Pat), Connie Mutko (late Mark), and the late Sammy, John, Bobby (Kim), Veronica Blake (John), Vincent, and Dolores "Tickles" Sampson (late Ed). Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. 

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing and funeral Monday August 4, 2025 beginning at 6pm in the Hubert M. McBride Funeral Home 2357 East Cumberland Street Philadelphia, PA 19125, Funeral service 7:30pm. Interment will be private and at a later date.
