William (Bill) Newbold passed away peacefully early on July 9 after a brief illness.
Son of the late Frank and Agnes (Barrett) and Dorothy Newbold. Predeceased by his sister Patricia Campbell. Survived by his loving wife of 52 years Lydia (Kasakowa) and his children Karen Coady (Christopher) and Bill. Adoring Pop to Catelyn, Colin, Callie and Laura. Beloved brother-in-law to Elizabeth Atkinson and cherished Uncle to Robert (Kate), Richard (deceased), John (Marge), Desmond, Jennifer Plotts (Bob), Daniel (Holli), goddaughter Megan Lavely and many great nieces and nephews. Beloved fur babies Waffles, Mason & Ally.
Bill was a lifelong Fishtown resident and enjoyed the simple things. Summer and fall trips to North Wildwood were among his favorites. Bill’s easy-going nature and dry sense of humor made him a guy everyone enjoyed. He liked to sit outside and being an avid animal lover, he would pet all of the neighborhood dogs that came by and often had a bone in his pocket to offer his furry friends. He also raised homing pigeons from childhood to until just a few years ago. He enjoyed watching any nature/animal documentary, the History channel and Syfy.
Bill was a graduate of Thomas Edison high school class of 1966. He was a U*S Army Vietnam veteran and served his country in the jungles of Vietnam. He was a truck driver and member of the Teamsters.
In lieu of flowers contributions to the Philadelphia Vietnam Veterans memorial would be appreciated.
