Bill was born in Philadelphia to the late William and Helen Carlson. He passed away at home surrounded by his loved ones including his beloved wife of 60 years, Donna.
Bill was a horse racing fan. He especially liked the Triple Crown; The Preakness, Belmont Stakes and the Kentucky Derby. He never missed any of the races. He was also a frequent visitor to the old Liberty Bell Park. One of his favorite pastimes was reading the Racing Form newspaper. Bill also was a fan of Penn State Football. In his younger days Bill was a self-employed roofer, specializing in residential roof repair. A kind and caring man, he enjoyed tending to his 100-gallon fishtank.
In recent months, he acquired a little furball named Kit Kat, who was his constant companion. he was also an avid fan of the candy bar for whom she was named. Another favorite of Bill's was listening to Frank Sinatra recordings. He will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father and brother and grandfather.
In addition to his wife, the former Donna Chambers, he is the father of Joseph Selser, John Selser, Rachel Selser, Rhoda Selser, Vernon Selser and the late Rena Neild, William Selser III and Ernest Selser. Brother of Kathleen Selser, Carol Lankelis, and Elizabeth O'Donnell. Sadly missed by his godchildren Wayne Selser, Helen Minnucci, John Selser and his 28 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren along with his many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing and funeral on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, beginning at 11:30 AM followed by his Services of Christian Burial at 1 PM in the HUBERT M. McBRIDE FUNERAL HOME, 2357 East Cumberland St. Philadelphia, PA 19125. Further arrangements will be private.
