William "Bill-Bill" Schneider Obituary

William S. Schneider "Bill-Bill" passed away on June 6, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 63 years old. He is the beloved husband of Mary "Geri" (nee Fine). Devoted father of Denise Kanagie (Jack), Tiffany Kanagie (Jim), And William S. II.  Loving Pop Pop of Payton, Kendal, Rylee, Keegan, Brendt, and Adrianna. Dear brother of Charles Schneider (Ramona), Butch Schneider (Irene), Donna Flaherty (late Pat), Mark Schneider (Geri), and the late Tina Johnson (Ray), Hank Schneider, Joey Malloy (Diane), Peg Johnson (late Joseph) and Sissy Houseman (late George). He is sadly missed by his brothers and sisters in law and his many nieces and nephews.

Bill-Bill was born and raised in the Fishtown section of Philadelphia and after getting married, remained there with his own family.  He attended Mastbaum High school and then worked first as a Shipwright with the Navy Yard and then as a Maintenance Engineer with the William Penn House.  In his downtime he enjoyed all of his Philadelphia hometown sports teams, classic cars and traveling to car shows, especially to the jersey shore. He had a love of his neighborhood, especially Penn Treaty Park.  As a boy he spent time there flying kites and hanging with friends. As an adult, he also loved spending time there with friends and family every Sunday, enjoying barbecues and reminiscing about past times and loved ones that had passed on. His greatest joy was being with his grandchildren. He loved to take them fishing at the Fish Hatcheries and was the best Baseball and Soccer Pop Pop, who loved being at their games.  He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing and funeral Friday June 14, 2019 from 7-9 pm and Saturday June 15 2019 beginning at 9:30am in the McElvarr Funeral Home 1415-17 E. Susquehanna Ave. Philadelphia PA 19125. His funeral service will begin at 11am in the funeral home. Further arrangements will be private as his wish was to be cremated.  In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests and appreciates memorial contributions to the America Lung Association.
