William E. Joyce "Bootie", of Woodbury, New Jersey on March 13, 2022. Beloved husband of Anne T. Quinn-Joyce "Nancy". Cherished and sadly missed by Gianna D'Angelo. Loving brother of Carol Hagan (Gene), Margaret Kimball, Rita O'Brien (Terrance), and the late Edward W. Joyce. Dear brother in law of William J. Quinn (Linda), Christopher J. Quinn (Helen), Jane Santangelo, Dennis J. Quinn, and the late James J. Quinn (Maureen)and John J. Quinn. Also survived by his many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and his furbaby Jaegger.
The words “No Regrets” became Bootie’s mantra as he lived his life to the fullest.
William was born in Philly to the late Rita Costa Joyce and Edward Joyce of St Anne’s parish in Port Richmond. He shared 38 years with Anne"Nancy" Quinn, his wife, and Gianna his niece/daughter/ best bud. He passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends listening to Rolling Stones and the Saw Doctors. We all shared a toast in his honor of Tulle.
Bootie grew up on Cumberland Street and attended St Anne’s School. His days playing ball at St Anne’s and Cione playground were a big part of his childhood, where memories were cherished, lives were molded, and friendships lasted a lifetime. His parents owned Ed and Rita’s bar on Tulip and Albert streets, where Bootie could be persuaded to work as long as there was milk for his coffee….no milk, no bar.
He was a devoted hunter and fisherman. It never mattered if he got anything. It was all in the preparation and anticipation. When hunting season came around, he referred to his adventures as “going to the office”. His love for his pets was quite evident and his buddy Jaegger was his sidekick. He was a member of Hospitality Campground for 38 years where he enjoyed playing horseshoes, washers and enjoying his “Bud”.
If Bootie considered you a friend, you knew it. Don’t worry about your secrets; they went to the grave with him. He was one of a kind and those who knew him were the lucky ones. He had a legacy ,one in which we will strive to live up to. He lived his life with no regrets and no apologies, he played hard on the court, and he cherished his lifelong friends. He will be missed immensely. May he rest in peace with endless “BUDS”. Love ya, Boot!
